Citizens of some countries are required to obtain a visa in order to enter Switzerland. Visa applications must be submitted to the Swiss foreign mission closest to their place of residence at least four (4) weeks prior to the planned travel date.

Registration of participants to ITU-R activities is carried out exclusively on-line through the approval of Designated Focal Points (DFPs) for ITU-R event registration

When needed, visa support must be requested during the on-line registration process. The following information must be provided for each participant requiring visa support:
There is no need to send further documentation to ITU as the visa support request procedure will follow automatically. For meetings held in Switzerland, please allow up to 21 days for a confirmation of support to be provided by ITU.
Visa support confirmations will be sent to the DFP who will be responsible for forwarding each confirmation to the concerned participant. Support confirmations will NOT be sent directly to meeting participants.
Please refer to the corresponding invitation letter or event website for information on visa support to attend an ITU-R event held outside of Switzerland.
For ITU-R events held abroad, visas cannot be obtained through the ITU Secretariat.
Early registration is highly encouraged for participants to be able to apply for their entry visas within the specified timeframe.
